HI all.
According to a Netflix blog post, there is finally audio description coming to Netflix.
It was supposed to roll out yesterday, coinciding with the release of Marvel's Daredevil.
Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work though.
I spent an hour online with Netflix tech support, and they didn't know how to turn it on either.
Have any of you guys had any luck?
Here's a link to the blog post.

Yes it works. What device are you using to watch it like thaat? if it's an idevice there is a podcast on apple vis showing you how. it's in the selections if on the computer, but can't promise that works because I can't use netflix on this pc. silverlight and linux don't play nice.

Hopefully there will at some point be described movies on it which aren't about blind people.:) Always found that amusing.

As others have stated here,

Log out of Netflics, and then log back into your account. As far as the audio description working with Silver Lite on the computer, I'm afraid this does not work as of now. I have tried it, and there is no option to enable it.

If you're using an IOS device, when playing the episode, perform a two-finger double tap, swipe up until you hear language options, double-tap on this, then there should be an option for audio description. Tap this, then tap done. It should remain on for subsequent episodes, but you may have to re-enable it again. If you are using an Apple TV, do the following

When playing an episode, hold down the center button. This will display the language options. Select audio description. Then, you have it on! Enjoy. Very well-described if you ask me. Only wish it was available on every single show, like deaf people have access to close-captioning tracks.

a friend of mine tried this with the Apple TV and it didn't work. so there's probably more to turning it on than meets the eye.

All closed-captioning is repeating what's spoken, so of course it's going to be easier to implement.

Describing something takes time to come up with a script, plus fitting said description so it doesn't overlap with spoken dialog.

I got audio description to work on my IOS device, but I think only certain shows like the one mentioned above support it right now.

Hey all, thanks for the replies.
Unfortunately, this is more complicated than the basic steps for some users.
Check out this thread on applevis for more discussion.

As I mensioned in the applevis thread, I contacted Netflix customer service and they are aware that there's a bug for some users on some devices when accessing descriptions.
They say a fix is coming, but until then we're stuck with what we've got.

Hi,

I'm sorry you weren't able to watch the show. I've seen the whole season with description, and it's awesome!
